How to frame your Mount Kilimanjaro certificate

The best way to frame your Mount Kilimanjaro summit certificate is with an 11×17 inch frame. The certificate is printed on A4 size paper, which means that most picture frames that come with mats will not be the right size for the certificate. That means that the top and bottom of your certificate will be cut off and it will not look good. What you need to do instead is buy an uncut mat board at your local hobby store (Hobby Lobby, etc.). These are $12 each at my local store and have enough mat to do 4 frames easily. Having them do the mat is expensive and not worth it to me, especially if you are doing more than one as a gift to your fellow hikers.

The hardest part about this is definitely sketching out where to cut the frame to have nice border and to keep things looking professional. Luckily for you, after spending hours messing up and having to buy another mat, I made a template that you can download and print. The template makes it super easy to know exactly where to cut and where to adhere your certificate and photo. You can download the certificate using the link below.

One of the nice things about this download is that you can print it out onto A4 paper, 8.5 x 11 paper, or 11×17 paper. If you use a size other than 11×17, you just need to align the 4 pages and tape them together, and voila, you’ve got a template!

You can use a straight edge razor blade like those found in X-actos or similar blades. But, for a more professional, angled look, I suggest using this professional cutter instead. It still ends up being cheaper to get this than it would have been to have Hobby Lobby do it for me. Plus, I could do multiple mats and use it forever and ever. So, if you are interested in getting that pro look, use the link below to get one on Amazon.
